Head of School’s Welcome
Head of School’s Welcome

Greeting from Sean P. O’Maonaigh, Head of School

It is my pleasure to welcome you and your family to XCL American School of Bangkok's website.

Choosing a school can be a challenging decision. I understand that every family is unique, and the factors considered important in choosing a school can vary greatly. From personal beliefs and values to class size, curriculum offerings, and facilities, there are numerous considerations that can feel overwhelming.

What truly matters is that a child thrives in a school when an informed decision is made to join a community that shares similar aspirations and a commitment to individual student development.

We are delighted to provide you with a glimpse into our school and community through this website, in order to assist you in making a choice that will benefit your child.

XCL American School of Bangkok is a highly respected private international school that offers an exceptional American curriculum-based education with a global perspective. We cater to students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our school is renowned for incorporating project-based learning activities into the curriculum, providing students with authentic and real-world learning experiences.

XCL ASB is an accredited provider of the Advanced Placement (AP) program and AP Capstone program from the College Board. We offer one of the widest selections of AP courses currently available among international schools in Bangkok.

Established in 1983, our school is licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education and fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

At XCL ASB, we take pride in delivering a world-class education that fosters a foundation for life-long learning, while nurturing the skills and values necessary to become responsible leaders in the global community. We foster academic excellence within a caring community that celebrates diversity, mutual respect, and a commitment to learning.

For over four decades, our rigorous academic program has enabled our students to gain admission to top universities worldwide. Many of our outstanding graduates have also been awarded full academic scholarships.

Through our rigorous American curriculum, as well as a range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, XCL ASB empowers students to become independent leaders in the global community. Students are exposed to a challenging curriculum, receive individualized attention, and are encouraged to contemplate complex questions through defined learning principles.

“A typical school year in an international school is 180 days. We make sure that each day is productive and experiential for students.”

Our dedicated teachers and staff prioritize the intellectual and personal growth of each student. We guide students in monitoring their progress, while providing feedback and positive reinforcement to acknowledge their achievements. Students engage in interdisciplinary learning to cultivate independent skills that will benefit them in higher education and beyond. In an increasingly changing and globalized world, we encourage students to consider both local and global contexts, fostering intercultural understanding and, in many cases, multilingual capabilities. We take pride in our students and their commitment to their education and personal growth. They work, play, and develop a broader understanding of the world’s possibilities.

We are also proud to celebrate our diversity, innovation, and continuous growth. Our school community consists of caring parents who actively support our school and their children. It is a multicultural, multinational, and multilingual community.

“We are a community of learners who support the pursuit of individual excellence while also exploring ways to enrich the lives and experiences of others.”

I sincerely hope that you and your family will consider joining our community. We are here to assist you in making an informed decision regarding your child’s education.

Warmest Regards,
Sean P. O’Maonaigh
